6/19/25 - We manned a table at the new Equity Center, a space for free expression, strategic planning, and community engagement. Serving BIPOC Alaskans, the Center has a commercial kitchen, gathering and office spaces, and associated programming.

6/8/25 - We were posted up at the Loussac Library in Anchorage to honor cancer survivors. June is National Cancer Survivors' Month.

4/30/24 - 12/10/24 - Because community providers know how to best support and advocate for their neighbors, Alaska End-of-Life Alliance hosted an educational series to train community-level professionals in leading ACP conversations within their respective communities. Generously supported by the Mat-Su Health Foundation.

9/23/24 - Meeting with the Faith Community Nursing group to discuss possible avenues for collaborative opportunities including nurse education and developing curriculum for CEUs.

7/23/24 - Dr. Nauman is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, serving patients in New Mexico. We very much enjoyed our impromptu community chat about:

2024 - AKEOLA supported the UW-based COCO team in piloting COCO Health for Alaska-based caregivers, alongside UAA, Hospice of Anchorage, and HealthTIE.
COCO combines conversational AI technologies with evidence-based therapies and insights from care professionals to tailor support for caregivers.
This collaboration is now extending to include the Alaska Dementia Action Collaborative, in the hopes of improving support for Alaskan caregivers.

11/14/23 - In an installation of the Alaska Nurse's Association Tuesday Talks series, AKEOLA moderated a discussion panel with area end-of-life doulas. These discussions are for nursing and other medical care professionals. End-of-life and deathcare is often inextricably linked with medical care. Alaska nurses do it all.

11/29/23 - Our very own Julie Raymond-Yakoubian was featured in this short piece from Alaska Public Media. Julie is a death doula based out of Girdwood. It is her job to help people plan, prepare for, and celebrate death.

10/14/23 - We discussed the past, present, and future of end-of-life care for an amazing group of Alaskan nurses as part of the Alaska Nurse's Association conference on Trending Topics in Nursing.

4/15/23 - Advance Care Planning is important as it can help ensure that you receive the medical care that you want in the event you're not able to make your own medical decisions. We spent an awesome afternoon with Rona Johnson, an Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner and Palliative Care Specialist in the Tribal Health System.
